Disc stuck in Dell Studio 1535

Hi everyone. I slipped a dvd into my drive, carefully as usual, and for some reason, my eject button and manual eject (from computer setting) won't work. Anyone else ever had this problem?

    Can someone please advise?

There is a small hole in the drive door. Insert a key (straightened paper clip) and push. You are feeling for a spring button.

Couldn't feel anything that felt like a springed button. Is there any other way? I felt around and felt like I might break something if I pushed harder.

The hole is there for one reason only - to eject a stuck disc. The button is directly through that hole.

You can also disassemble the laptop and remove the drive.

make sure you are pushing straight in. also push in on the tray while pushing in on the probe.

The disk drive is not one with a tray, but with the soft rubber that ingests the disc itself. Nothing external comes out, so are you speaking of that kind of disk tray that slides out and you place your disk on the plastic to slide back in, tray and all?

The drive used in the studio 1535 is a sony optiarc dvd drive.
The actual drive does not have a front cover, however the cover is part of the shell of the laptop.

Take a flashlight and look into the slot where the disc goes.
You should see a metal piece on one side of the drive. This keeps the disc from flying out of the drive.

You need to push the metal piece down with a paperclip or something. This metal piece usually gets caught, so all you do is push down and the disc comes right out

The problem is caused by pressure on the optical drive.
Pick up your laptop from the left side from now on, so that you do not put pressure on your optical drive

Hey, thank you both for your advice. Happily, all I actually had to do is reboot the computer and the disc popped out on command.

But I truly appreciate the info for future problems that I'm sure will happen.
