Marvell driver for controller not compatible with Win 7

My system is slow to load and no real problem with using the internet. It's just when I play BF3 online my system crashes hard sometimes and powers off or I get real slow fps/ freezes up and I have to shut down the pc to get out. Windows tells me the hd controllers driver (Marvell) is not compatible with windows 7, that everything is bottle necking at the controller and suggests I go to the OEM site for an updated, compatible driver. No luck there. No driver and they claim that hd is compatible with Win 7. The hd is a Western Digital, WD 5000 AADS, 500 gig, 32 mb SATA 3. End of the road? Do I have to buy a new hd that has drivers that are compatible with windows 7? Thanks for any help.

The first thing you said is that your computer is slow to load.

Can you elaborate here as this may be the root of your problem.

TGSoldier: In the Windows 'error report' it states that due to the driver not being able to process information fast enough, it is causing slow load times. Would explain the crashes too. That's all I know and it makes sense to me. My hard drive was rated at a slow 5.9 out of a possible 7.9 on the scale. I don't think anything else is causing the problem. My system health report indicates everything else is ok and set up properly.

Your have drive could be corrupted/ failing.

When last did you install / reinstall windows?

You can start looking for corrupted files by trying these two scans.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Disk Check

Do not run them at the same time.

Thanks for the suggestions but I just found out that the firmware installed on the motherboards chipset is not compatible with Win 7 and there is no download to update it, that firmware is not updatable. I guess I'll just have to buy a new m.b. Thanks guys.

Just a note, 5.9 is the highest you can get for a mechanical hard drive. To go higher you need an SSD.

What model Gigabyte motherboard?
