Freeware driver updater, Windows 7 w/ 32/64bit support

We have just released the final beta of Device Doctor, freeware device update utility. It's got a great database of drivers that we're hosting on fast servers so that you don't have to wait for driver downloads to trickle in from Taiwan!

This is a free community app with no Pro version, no crapware, limitations or anything like that. Try it out at Free Driver Update Software - Device Doctor and let us know what you think!

Thanks,

Collin.

Does this differentiate between 32-bit and 64-bit drivers according to your system and download the correct one?

Definitely, it does a proper hardware scan. Of course, it may find fewer 64-bit drivers that will work for you but more and more vendors are adding 64-bit support, we're adding drivers daily. The actual scan is very quick (a few seconds) so give it a try!

Well this is the results from the scan:

Freeware driver updater, Windows 7 w/ 32/64bit support-dd1.jpg

Now for the first item it attempts to download this:

Name: dd2.JPG
Views: 71
Size: 32.5 KB
This seems to be a driver for XP

Second item thinks I have an AMD system when in fact its Intel:
Name: dd3.JPG
Views: 78
Size: 32.9 KB

This is for the Asus P6T6 WS Revolution board which I dont have. Mine is the native Intel DX48BT2.

I received similar results on testing it. Unfortunately this product does not seem ready for general consumption yet.

IMO, all driver detectors are terrible.

We haven't had as much beta testing on 64-bit side so I appreciate you taking the time to run it. Feedback from our 32-bit testers has been really good across the board. I'll forward this to our programmer, the app actually logs recommendations so that it can automatically improve the process for everyone in the future (if you left that enabled on install).

Zen00: what happened when you tried it?

Yeah, only good for backing up existing drivers that are being used when you do a fresh install.

We're hoping it will be useful for more than that once we're out of beta!
