Installed a driver called AmdEHCI now my HDMI port's audio is failing

So I was having some audio problems with my computer so I figured updating the drivers would be the best bet. I decided I'd use one of those programs that can check your driver and download the driver you need. I followed the instructions and installed what seems to be called AmdEHCI onto my computer. Now whenever I turn on my HDTV which I have connected via the HDMI on my ATI Raedon 6950 the audio claims that it is not connected. Now every time I want audio to come out of my HDMI I have to disable to display and then re-enable it. I used to be able to turn my TV on and off whenever I wanted and I would still have audio functioning properly.

Something that caught my attention was that when I left the properties window opened for the HDMI audio and then turned on my TV I would get a message that says "The device you are configuring has been removed." even though I haven't touched anything other than the power button on my TV to turn it on.

I have no idea what to do and am rather close to doing a clean install just to resolve this issue. Is there anything I can check or something I can do to remedy this issue?

We've had similar discussions about so-called driver detective programs here before, and the general consensus is that they are a complete waste of money (drivers are available from the hardware manufacturer free of charge), plus they don't always identify your hardware correctly, meaning that they will, on occasion, install drivers for devices not present or even never been present on your system.

Use System Restore to revert your system to its condition prior to you installing and using this program. You should find that the correct drivers have been restored and that your computer should work as before.

It would seem that there is no point before that. I guess my only real solution is either to find the registry and delete it I guess or do a fresh install. I've learned my lesson though and will definitely not use these kinds of programs again. Guess I'll need to back-up all my stuff now.
