    Can't scan in Windows 7

I installed Windows 7 on my laptop and everything is fine, except I can't scan with my hp LaserJet 3030. I tried the default drivers from 7, extracted the drivers from Vista (ruined my XP installation on my mac just to try), tried with the drivers from the CD for XP but I get always the same error: "Could Not Complete Scan." in Windows Fax and Scan. All ideas appreciated! Thanks in advance...

I'm having the same issue with a Lexmark P6200 scanner. It starts to move the scanner head and then just stops until it times out.
Have to wait for Win7 RC1?

I have the same problem with Canon Pixma MP530. Vista drivers installed successfuly but the scanning application failed to start so i tried to scan via Windows' UI but scanning can't complete and the device hangs in "Scanning" mode.

I guess we all have to wait for a proper driver from the manufacturers.

My HP 6110 scans just fine, in Win 7.
In both Windows Fax & Scan and in VueScan.

    Hello Tora.

Have you tried updating your firmware? There is a download available for your device in Canon Downloads page.

Also, try extracting the drivers to a local folder using winrar, and then go to device manager, choose your scanner under devices, right click it and select update driver, and manually point to the extracted path.

    Hi limneos,
Thanks for your reply. I've installed the driver manually but still no change and my firmware is also up to date (i've checked).

I've sent a feedback to Microsoft about this situation.

If you have Vista installed go to the Windows directory on C: and copy the file named twain_32.dll and then go to your Windows 7 windows directory and paste it there. This fixed my scan problem and wish you same luck as I had.

With 7077, the scanner driver and the application doesn't hang anymore.
I advise you to upgrade to Win 7 7077

    Hi all
Scanners are devloped so quickly these days it's quite unlikely that yuou might NEVER get some W7 drivers for the hardware.

For these situations (especially some older USB scanners) running say an XP virtual machine will usually allow you to continue to use your scanner (or Dual boot which I tend to avoid unless absolutely necessary).

W7 Retail (that's after RC BTW might allow some legacy XP drivers to work but don't hold your breath.

You'll probably have to bite the bullet and -- use a Virtual Machine or buy some new hardware.

    Cheers

    HP Scan diag util

For those of you having this problem with HP printers/scanners you can download the following utility from the HP website:

HP Scan Diagnostic Utility - HP Customer Care (Canada - English)

In my case, it diagnosed it and found that the drivers needed updating.
