If you don't want to hear windows sounds, go to "Sounds and Audio devices" Sounds~Sound Scheme: No Sounds, then hit OK.

@AllMac - Better yet, instead of disabling all sounds just scroll down to device connect and device disconnect and modify their sounds to "none". You can then hit OK and it should stop. You will still hear other windows sounds.

I have the same problem with a tx2510us. I installed the authentec driver for the biometric fingerprint reader, but it keeps connecting/disconnecting from the device manager.

I couldn't get the fingerprint reader to work. So until then, I just disabled the biometric reader (in device manager). The sound stopped.

Changing the sound in windows sounds is not a solution because it will stop noticing you when you disconnect a usb drive or so. Instead, disable the biometric device.
