A ghost printer in "Devices and Printers" that I can not remove

    A ghost printer in "Devices and Printers" that I can not remove


    my brother HL-2030 printer is working fine (i have only one). nevertheless a second icon of the same printer is showing up in "Devices and Printers", marked as an issue. i'm not able to remove, uninstall or disable it. please help me to get rid of this item

    before you can remove it you need to clear any stuck print jobs.. double click it and check. What happens when you click troubleshoot?

    Also, disconnect usb cable from PC and then try again to delete. You may need admin access too.

    You may need to uninstall your printer drivers, reboot, check that the ghost icon has gone, and then reinstall your printer drivers.

    As event3 mentions, it's as well to give yourself admin access when you reinstall. Just right-click the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

    It may also be necessary to leave your printer powered down and disconnected when you reinstall the drivers. You'll be prompted when to power up and connect it.

    SOLVED!
    1) unplug printers USB cable (both printer items went grey)
    2) right-click on ghost one. NOW there was "Remove" to chose from
    3) which i did
    4) than plugged in USB cable and voila! ghost printer is no more

    thank you!
