    Figuring out onboard sound card

my friends computer has an on board audio sound card that we dont know the name too and the computer was reformatted. Tryin to look up model but not luck, it was built by hand. Any way we could figure this out now? or is it a bit too late. If its late, we could always just buy a sound card, but it'd be nice to just be able to get the name now. Thanks in advance for any help

Laptop or desktop? Is there an OS on it? if so you could download a program like everest which will tell you the specifics of your computer

The motherboard model number is what you need.
