New processor, computer won't boot up

    My motherboard: Acer WMCP78M (Socket AM2 )
    The NEW Processor:AMD Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition, 4x 3.0GHz, boxed

So...I start the computer, i hear the beep sound and Acer startup thing... Then comes the fast text as usually after that comes in the left upper corner '' _ '' And nothing else. So...Where is the problem?

PS. My bad english sorry for that & i don't know if this is right category and i'm doing this first time.

If you are refering to your Laptop

The chips used to run on there boards are limited most of the time there non upgradable

Im pretty sure that is where the problem is also you would have to update the bios if any is available that would mention supporting such a chip

I would read what you are actually able to upgrade most of the time it will be just RAM or HD/SSD Hope this helps you understand where the fault might be

Ok The Processor is the problem Take it out and Return ASAP !

I did a search This is a Desktop and the Pictures tell you what it is upgradable to and what model your board is

You can only go as far as a QUADCORE phenom not HEXACORE !

    Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition, 4x 3.0GHz, boxed <------------This is a x6-core chip not a x4-core

I threw in a list of QUADCORES this is your choices if any

I believe you are trying to put a AM3 CPU in a AM2 socket! Not compatible

I would start with your local computer parts retailer

You Obviously would be better off getting AM3+ Board along with DDR3 ram which is cheaper then DDR2

I would probally get with a mid tower nothing to costly since you have a average build that doesn't need a ton of space

Figure out what you want it to do if you gonna OC or leave it invest in a after martket cooler

    better cooling solutions

NEW PSU don't buy a case with one already set or if your current one has enough juice to run what you need stick with it

pretty much that would be it new ram new board case / look around would probally get it for under 200.00 american If budget allows it is always better to get a dedicated gpu vs onboard

Isn't 4gb ram enough? And do i have to buy from newegg.com? Never bought from internet so i'm quite worried where i have to buy from. My friends said they have bought parts from Sinä hyödyt siitä mitä Jimm's tietää - Jimms.fi
