BSOD using Internet Explorer; file error 'atikmpag.sys' - please help!

Dear techies,
I have recently been plagued by a BSOD problem which is triggered by using Internet Explorer. I don't play games at all, especially not ones that are graphics intensive, so I cannot understand why this problem is hitting me.
When it happens, sometimes the browser manages to recover itself, and displays a pop-up saying so, but all too soon the display goes bacl altogether and there is no choice but to reboot the computer.
This issue is killing me as it's stopping me working! I really need to find a fix ASAP. I've tried all the suggested fixes that are suggested with simple Google seaches, such as clean reinstalling the drivers, running CC Cleaner, clearing the brower cache, etc, etc.
Please help - I really don't want to have to reinstall Windows.
