Problems installing Realtek HD audio driver

Hey, I'm new to all of this drivers and such...
I am currently running a Sony VAIO (VPCEJ190X) with Windows 7 Professional x64.
The audio driver came as Conexant SmartAudio HD and I'd really like to get the Realtek HD Audio Driver.

    Here is what I've done.

Downloaded and installed (w/ restart) Version R2.69, 64 bit realtek driver from their website.

    Result:

    Programs List.

    Device Manager.

That's what I've done so far. Help please?

Welcome to the 7 Forums, Elite19.

The RealTek Driver doesn't seem to be installed. May be RealTek Audio Drivers are not compatible with your Computer. After you installed the RealTek Driver did the installation go properly?

Hey, the installation went through just fine, no errors, with a mandatory restart afterwards.
I've tried the double install and even reset and tried in safe mode. No Luck.

After some tweaking... good or bad
It is now the High Definition Audio Device by Microsoft instead of Conexant. (Default Audio Driver?)
The NVIDIA HD Audio is for the HDMI port
Somehow the Realtek driver is there

But, the little warning triangle, with the device status as "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

There were files placed. I don't know if this looks right?

If you are in a position to reinstall the Conexant and Nvidia Drivers later, after uninstalling then I suggest that you uninstall them and use only RealTek Audio Drivers to check out if they work properly as stand-alone. If not then just disable them and check.

At present the RealTek Driver doesn't seem to be working.

Your laptop has Conexant audio. Consequently, Realtek drivers will not work. It's a bit like having AMD/ATI graphics and expecting that an NVidia driver will work with them. It's just not going to happen, as the hardware is not compatible with the driver you're trying to install.

I've been told by a senior-level tech at Sony that the marketing made the decision to essentially block the use of Realtek's HD Audio Manager on the VAIO line. Didn''t make sense to him or me either given that they market the PC as one with stellar sound, etc. When you're forced to use the silly little Window 7 Sound applet to configure sound, there is absoluely no way to configure HD or Surround Sound on the VAIO. If anyone knows otherwise, I'm all ears!
