Windows 7: Windows 7 canīt find a simple "USB keyboard" driver

Windows USB recognition...and lack thereof....

....I wound up reformatting - I was long overdue, anyway, but hated reinstalling all the software - even the minimum. But that's what I did...and still was getting a BSOD for driver power failure issues, or something to that effect. I believe this to be related to the USB issue.
I finally found an intelligent, non-speculative piece of advice. Someone said DON'T OVERCLOCK! Now, I don't know what setup you may have, but if you have a contemporary CPU, even if you're not going out of your way to overclock it, there may be a turbo setting in BIOS where the speed will change on demand. So try disabling that and see what happens.
Also my CPU cooler was failing, and that may have had something to do with it, too.
I've changed my CPU cooler and re-enabled the Turbo setting. So far, so good.
Good luck.

My system is not overclocked.
As I stated in BIOS the keyboard is well recognized.
I can even use the keyboard on the windows boot options menu.
But when windows is up and running the keyboard does not operate anymore and windows says it cannot find a driver.
I have also tried the USB driver general fix but this did not fix the problem either.

Yes, I know you see it in BIOS - I did too....at any rate, it's definitely a Windows thing and your only option my be to reformat...sad to say...I've even tried repair to no avail.

Another FIX

Had the same issue with my keyboard. Keyboards worked fine in BIOS and boot menu, until the windows logon screen appeared. Windows didn't load a driver, and yellow marks in in device manager no matter what keyboard I connected.

The usb.inf and usb.PNF files were somehow missing from my Windows/inf folder. I restored these from the installation media, and TADA... - it now works again.

I got a customer with same issue. The problem only appears when it is connected to internet "USB Keykoard - obtaining driver from windows update".

If I unplug the ethernet cable, then plug in the USB Keyboard, it works. So just need to disable obtaining driver from windows update.
