    Try Windows Update?

Also maybe these vista drivers will do the trick?
Download the Sigmatel STAC 9200 series audio driver 6.1 for Windows Vista

    Hi BiGGRIMTIM:

How did you get the audio working on the Dell Inspiron 6000? My wife has one with the integrated audio, but I just cant get the audio working with Windows 7 RC. Thanks ....

Yes, I would like to know as well. I have just installed Windows 7 on my Inspiron 6000 and the only issue (that I know of so far) is my sound card is not detected, so WU can't find a driver for it. Anyone know where I can get a compatible driver for the Realtek sound card? Thanks!

Edit: To Cephalopod...I got my audio working. It was too easy (smack myself)...I went to Dell's support site, navigated to drivers for Inspiron 6000, and downloaded the latest driver...even though it says it's for XP, if you look at the compatibility list, it also says Vista 32-bit. So I downloaded it, installed, and voila! I have sound!

none of the above has worked for me

i have read and tried all of the suggested posts and im not having any luck..
which is the reason why i registered
OS: windows 7 black edition beta build 7000
Im not sure what the chip set version is.
but Ive tried numerous xp and vista sound drivers and on every single one it will barely begin the install and then it will freeze.. not responding...

currently it says there is no audio device installed.. which i know is not true because i was using winxp with no issues...

maybe someone can help... greatly appreciated...

@HiHaters, the sound drivers to use are the Windows XP ones on the Dell website. You probably will not have luck with any others. They run just fine under Windows 7. Almost...

I have a problem in that my mute button produces a clicking sound and a quick flash of the red mute symbol, but does not mute. It seems like it's doing mute twice for each push of the button. I booted back into Windows XP and there it worked normally, so I don't think it's a hardware problem. Has anyone seen this? Any idea for a fix?
