I think my laptop is devoid of drivers.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 1647. It's about 2.5 years old.
I had to reinstall Windows and I formatted every drive while doing so.
Windows 7 installed correctly but I lost a lot of aspects of the system.
My resolution won't exceed 1400 x 1050
I can't connect to the internet
On the Dell website there is a Drivers and Downloads page with 44 files for Studio XPS.
I downloaded all of them and started installing them but it seems futile, there are a lot of them and they haven't helped my resolution or internet problem yet.
Is there another way to repair this mess?

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

ADD the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

On the Dell site, can you locate the network adaptor driver and install that? Once you gain network/internet access, Windows will be able to downlaod generic drivers that will at least make you Dell a bit more responsive. From there you could then install specific drivers from the Dell site if you wanted to.

Use the Dell site to serach for the most appropriate drivers, by entereing your service tag:
Dell Studio XPS 1647 - Dell - Search - All Dell.com

If one has problems with multiple computers posted in multiple threads, the "specs" will only match the most recent thread if the specs are updated per your statement. All the other threads will have specs unrelated to those problem computers.
I can't believe this would be a requirement.

I agree that specs should be provided for the topic computer, however.
