First a question:

Why do you want to update it? Isn't it working?

Your screenshot shows no problems.

+1 If it aint broke, dont fix it, if it's broke, use the cd that came with the mother board, it should contain the drivers you are looking for...

no the cd is a no go,
anyway this is the driver from DFI website, i know how to install
the driver but i don't know which of the controller shown above to update.

no in the bios the sata mode is on IDE and i want to update it so i could change it to AHCI and benefit from ICH10 advantages.
if i change it to AHCI i get bluescreen 0X0000007B which means the driver is not installed.

please help

Hi Shayx,

Switching to AHCI is very problematic if not impossible after OS install.

As far as I know, it will only work if you set it before installing the OS.

well i work a lot with laptops.
and with laptos i install sata drivers on installed OS almost on a daily basis.
so it's possible.
but in laptops you have the controller itself to update in the ATA/ATAPI category.
here i have only channels and don't know which i need to update.

Forgive me my ignorance, but aren't installing SATA drivers, and changing SATA-IDE mode to SATA-AHCI mode two different matters?

you need to install the right sata drivers for the hard drive to work in ahci mode.
unless you do so==>bluescreen comes to visit.
