Disc drive keeps ejecting DVD's and CD's when I try to put them in

How can I solve this problem? My Acer computer disc drive has always ejected discs whenever I try to insert them. I never receive any error message, it will not even try to pull the DVD or CD in.

Hello washconcepts Welcome to the Seven Forums!

That's a bit odd no doubt! The first thing to look at would be any apps with the eject disk option to be sure none of them are running at the time to prevent any auto eject situation. The other thing of course would be a problem drive possibily being a sticky eject button where the button is out but the contacts are still closed.

The other thing to look at would be the drive tray to be sure there is nothing there that is pressing up against any disk placed in the drive tray which would jam the tray when closing forcing it to open up fully. You would look to take a close look to be no debris or misaligned disk tray is the source of the problem.

If the drive is toast the obvious from there on would be to simply see the driver replaced. If this has been seen since first bought new bringing back in under warranty to see the drive replaced would have been the first suggestion anyone would make for this however. Let the dealer/vendor see it repaired.

First, there are no 3rd party drivers for optical drives (CD/DVD drives). The drivers are built into Windows.

It sounds like the drive is defective. Contact the vendor for a replacement.
