Windows 7: iPod "driver" problems

Yes, it still doesn't work. It tried to install the "recovery mode" drivers, but failed to do so.

What happens when you force it, and then plug it in?

I just told you, haha. It tries to install the drivers but fails.

And it still doesn't show up in iTunes.

Hmmm. Try plugging in the iPod while its OFF. Then, press and hold the home button until it drops into recovery mode. Have iTunes up the whole time, and it should sense it.

I found the problem. It requires a driver, USBAAPL.SYS, to be used by the device. Which under driver details, it is not listed. So I SOMEHOW need to get it to install that driver for my iPod. But how... it keeps recognizing it as an MTP device. And I can't get it to use the driver it NEEDS as the driver it needs. It keeps thinking the MTP driver is the newest and best. Arghhhh Windowssss, why hast thou forsaken me? And ideas about that one?

Let it install the driver, then download and located the inf file for the new driver. Then open device manager and uninstall the old driver and install the new one.

Then use update driver.

I did. It keeps recognizing it as an MTP USB device, not as the iPod that it is.

And update. I just tried it out on my laptop, works perfectly. It recognizes it under USB controllers as the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. It uses the two usbaapl.sys and usbaaplrc.sys drivers as it should. So it's Windows 7's fault. =,
