    Netgear WG111v2 beta driver needed

    Note: This thread has been closed as it has been superseded by Netgear WG111v2 beta driver - please refer to that thread for all further inquiries for this device.

    WG111v2 netgear driver not working. I'm running win7 64bit, and using vista driver 64bit. I can only get it working when I disable driver sig check when booting up.
    Anyone know of any beta drivers yet?

    Answer from Netgear:

    UPDATE.

    taken from an old wg111v2 .inf file... now they crypt their installer with Macrovision junk, so it's hard to unpack

    [NETGEAR]
    %RTL8187.DeviceDesc% = RTL8187.ndi,USB\VID_0846&PID_6A00 ;

    RTL8187 = Realtek probably a RTL8187L chip.

    Have you tried to install drivers from the Realtek's website or does Netgear forces you to use their own modified drivers by using special hardware ID like Hercules does?
    the drivers on the realtek website seem newer than the ones on the Netgear's website.

    I haven't tried any others yet because I don't have a problem :)

    Yes I thought you had a problem, then I read your post again and saw that they worked after you disabled the driver signature check. sorry :P

    If netgear is like Hercules, you're good to wait for the final release of W7 (and maybe after) before getting any drivers from them. Try the realtek drivers, maybe these will install and get your USB wifi dongle to work without having to disable an "important" system security feature. :)

    Cheers :)
