Windows 7 - Xbox 360 PC wireless gaming Receiver (Code 10)

My OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

    Problem:
When I plug in the xbox 360 wireless receiver the drivers will not load. The light on the device is blinking and windows recognizes it as an Unkown USB device.

    • I have tried loading the drivers straight from Microsoft and have tried manually installing them. I get an error stating The device cannot start (error code 10).
    • the package itself does state that it is windows 7 compatable as does the manufacture's website
At this point I'm thinking it might be because im running 64 and not 32bit...

any help of guidance will be greatly appreciated!!

    Thank You.

are you sure you installed the right one i just did that 2 days ago and it ran fine

should pick the top driver xbox 360 wireless plug play power driver not the bottom

you can even try the normal driver at the top it will still do the same with out giving you a error code

I picked each one of them to see if it works ... It didn't do it .. I still haven't been able to find a way make it work ... yesterday i uninstalled the drivers and plugged the wireless receiver .. it found the drivers online and worked untill i unplugged it ... it just wouldn't connect again (wouldn't stop blinking .. and the device manager said unknown device ? .. tried installing the drivers and it failed again).. I was able to played skyrim when it was plugged ... I believe it is a lack of enough power problem (read somewhere) ... I ordered a externally powered usb hub ... haven't tried it yet ...

So it is off of a Hub and not to the Pc itself ? that would be a Issue

Was there anything going on when you unpluged it ?

Also you could have rolled back the driver or even if you saved a restore point after the first install you might be able to revert it back

it didn't work (external usb hub) ... I cannot determine the cause of this issue ... It could be the usb (of the device) or the cable (but the device is blinking ?) Can it be that the fuse was blownout ? it shouldn't blink right ? ...

I had ordered another wireless receiver and it is working fine ... it just downloaded the drivers right after i plugged it and it works when i plugged it multiple times (i wanted to see if it was consistent) .. i wanted to see if the problem is with the controller (maybe) .. it didn't connect with the receiver right away .. so, i connected it through plug and charge cable and it downloaded the drivers for the controller and plug & charge .. after that it was able to connect with the receiver (it was consistent .. i tried it multiple times .. and even played skyrim for sometime) ..
