Unable to update onboard LAN controller drivers?

I am unable to update my Realtek Ethernet drivers to 5/03/12 for some reason. It only goes up to 4/11/12. When I try to force update it to 5/03/12 the ethernet driver does not work. Is there any way I can fix this?

Which Realtek controller do you have or at least what motherboard/computer?
Where are you getting the drivers from?

It is not always necessary to update the driver as long as your system is working properly.
Sometimes, they update the driver to add compatibility with new hardware.

I have an MSI H55M-E23 motherboard. It says it has PCIe 10/100/1000 ethernet on a Realtek 8111E. I'm getting the drivers from Realtek

I do not see those dates for the drivers that you show.

Yeah my computer always blue screens when I use Skype. And only when I use Skype. I have a feeling my outdated Ethernet drivers are the cause of it.

a bit of Google research shows that this is a common problem with win7 and Skype--one solution consistently mentioned is to reinstall 'webcam' drivers.
