IDT driver will not go away...

Howdy, all.

I've spent all of last night tearing my hair out (quite literally; stress habit) trying to remove the IDT Audio drivers from my HP dv4-2045dx laptop running W7HPx64. Why? I just want to get to a bare-bones configuration - I like to know everything running on my machine, and to only keep it if I use it. The SRS effects sound like poo to me anyways, so I'd just as soon delete the IDT drivers from my machine and use the simple Microsoft one that also came with it. I've ControlPanel>Uninstall'd the UI for it, and in the Device Manager switched to the Microsoft driver; but I still can't get rid of the old IDT drivers (there are 3 of them under "Upgrade Driver Software" > "browse my own machine" . "let me pick from a list".). I've tried uninstalling the drivers and checking the "delete files" box, but they still remain; manually deleting their corresponding oemXX.inf and .pnf files just let them reappear in thier proper place. When I start up the machine the old IDT icon pops up in the system tray just before disappearing again. And, despite having CtrlPnl>Uninst the little UI program, it still runs when the buried .exe is found and clicked.

Any ideas???? I'm going absolutely nuts here. Thanks for any help in advance!
