When doing a clean windows install are Mobo drivers of any sort saved/kept and used with the new installation? Or is everything literally a blank slate again? I have started to make assumptions that somehow they are kept even with a clean install on a different HDD. Someone enlighten me whether it's a simple yes or no, i just need an answer!

If you do a "clean" install, everything, including motherboard chpset drivers must be installed. However, Windows 7 will install many drivers, so just the ones Windows doesn't install or ones that must have specific drivers will have to be installed. e.g. on many systems either the PC vendor or the motherboard vendor's sound driver should be installed instead of the generic HD Audio Codec that Windows usually installs.

Hmm okay.. Makes sense I guess but that makes me question how I am on the internet if I didn't reinstall the LAN driver... /: lol.

That would be because the built in LAN on your motherboard (Realtek 8111C according to Gigabyte) is supported by the default driver that Windows installs. If it wasn't supported by the default driver, then you would have to install it yourself to get on line.

Okay well thanks for your help! Would you suggest doing a clean install since i installed all windows updates before installing mobo/graphics card drivers? I bluescreened twice during the microsoft .net framework windows updates.

And for clarification this is not the build I am currently using, i am making a rig for my parents with some of my old hardware.

The drivers that were not installed shouldn't be a problem with the Windows updates. You should be able to install whatever is needed such as the motherboard, graphics, etc. In most cases the Windows updates are not hardware specific.

So in other words. Blue screening when installing these updates most likely isnt because of the mobo drivers not being installed?

Probably not. I can't say for sure, but most likely it wasn't because of a driver not being installed.
