Network Adapter

Alright, I was not on my computer for maybe 2-3 days and my internet was working fine before but now its not connecting at all when i troubleshoot it tells me i need to install a driver for my network adapter. I've tried downloading it from the website Dell and it still dosent work. My internet is up and running on my laptop but i need it on my desktop.

In device manager it does not show a Network Adapter tab so im not sure what im suppose to do.

So your internet has been working on your desktop? What's the range between the computer and the router? How many walls does it pass through?
Also check that the drivers you are downloading are for the exact same router you have!
Also try downloading the latest Windows Updates.

Have you removed your network adapter? :O
No, seriously, you sure that you are an admin (stupid question) on the desktop? And if it's wired; then I see no problems connecting.
Or have you uninstalled some software recently and the uninstaller didn't remove all the files, so you removed them manually; or just anything similar! Deleting files or cleaning registry or something.
In that process you might have removed important files for Windows, which results in no internet connection.

I have the same problem as you. I used the cd that came with my MB when I built my PC and the drivers that usually showed up when i ran the cd weren't listed anymore. So I downloaded them from the net and installed them and the damn driver or Network Adapter option in device manager doesn't show up still. I also didn't uninstall anything. I even tried a system recovery without any success.

hey. just a heads up, my onboard network adapter was disabled in my bios. I have no clue as to how that happened since i didnt touch it so maybe you should take a look at your bios and see if it's disabled as well. then return the one you bought if at all possible.
