i have 4 USB ports, 3 are 1.1 and 1 is 2.0, no matter what i try to connect, the windows detects the device but says unknown device detected? i have tried everything to fix this, plz help, in device mngr it shows 3 usb communication processor controllers 2 are OHCI 1.1 and one is EHCI 2.0 under them i have 3 usb root hubs, when i plug something in an extra one pops up for every device and is named unknown device with a yellow exp. point. PLZ SOMEONE HELP ME, maybe you can find my mobo chipset drivers for me, i am not sure but i think ati makes my mobo since the internal gfx card is a 200m express ati.

If you want something that will provide a great more detail on both the hardwares and softwares installed even on the system there the freeware called System Info for Windows(SIW) is the better one. SIW | System Information for Windows by Gabriel Topala

According to the HP specifications on that model all four usb ports are 2.0 which has been a standard for about 7yrs. already. Product Specifications HP Pavilion dv8301nr Notebook PC - HP technical support (Italy - English)

In 2010 new boards will start seeing the new USB 3.0 standard already provided to manufacturers in August just to note that. For updates from HP you select the version of either the 32bit or 64bit Vista updates from their support page at Select your operating system HP Pavilion dv8301nr Notebook PC - HP technical support (Italy - English)&

The SIW should give you a little more information in particular then they provide there while it's likely an AMD chipset to start with. The best move often found however is going through the MS updates and looking at the optional hardware and software updates that come up.

Were you using the SIW program? It would also help to know if you are running the 32bit or 64bit 7 there since you will need to select that for Vista at the HP support site.

I'm not finding any separate chipset drivers there only those for the onboard video and sound. The 32bit downloads are seen at Select software and drivers HP Pavilion dv8000 CTO Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

The 64bit are found at Select software and drivers HP Pavilion dv8000 CTO Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English) The drivers there are limited and bundled up with the software updates.

Don't confuse the model number since there's a second one seeing the "dv8000t" version with NVidia drivers! Select your operating system HP Pavilion dv8000t CTO Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
