When you first plugged in the printer, did it load the driver from Win7 as often happens? Try enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware.'
If this is a network printer plug it into router and from Control Panel>Devices and Printers>Add a Network printer. It should find the printer and install or prompt for drivers.
You may need to uninstall any software package you already installed in Control Panel>Programs and Features, then reboot to try this.
