Fax and Scan

Have you tried this. Go to programs and features. Select Windows features on or off. Scroll to Print document services and uncheck windows fax and scan. Let the OS uninstall it.
After a reboot follow the same path and check windows fax and scan and the OS will reinstall it.

Detail

Excuse me, a more detailed path.
click on start and select "Control Panel"
In control panel select "Programs and Features"
In Programs and Features select "Turn Windows Features On or Off"
Expand "Print and Document Services"
Remove the check mark by "Windows Fax and Scan"
Click OK (Windows will now remove the Fax and Scan feature)
If the OS doesn't ask for a reboot, Go ahead and reboot.
After the reboot follow the above path only this time put a check mark by "Windows Fax and Scan". Click OK. This will reinstall the feature. Reboot.
