installed software, but drivers for XP scanner cannot be found

Hi all, newbie here. I am attempting to install my older XP scanner on my new PC. But i am running into driver issues, which don't seem like normal issues you would encounter moving a peripheral from XP to Win7. This is what i did:

First i tried it with the OEM software.
After i download the software, i run the install,
(right click> XP SP3 mode >as administrator) which goes perfect, then the installer says to plug in the scanner, which i do. Then the fun starts:
    1) The software says it cannot "find" the scanner
    2) I run the devise manager and it knows the scanner is there, but says the drivers are not installed. I know the file they are located in, so i give the updater that path, but it says it cannot find that file.

Then I tried aftermarket software i know will allow this scanner to work with Windows 7. I get the same result.

    I guess my questions are:

1)Installing software for a peripheral does not automatically install the driver until it is plugged in, and then the installer finishes the job, correct?
    2) Why cannot the software connect or find the scanner? It worked a week ago on my old XP machine, and i checked all the connections. The device manager shows it being there, but needs troubleshooting, which then says it need drivers installed, and around i go again, lol
I am submitting 3 pics, one of which shows the OEM software on the lower right of the screen saying scanner is not connected, even though it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The best I can tell your printer is not compatible with Windows 7.

Sorry its a scanner, not a printer. Others have gotten it to install, but i have weird driver issues. I just need someone to read my post to see whats going on, and try to answer my questions, so that i know what my options are, thx.

    Visioneer OneTouch 7100 USB scanner
    See:Visioneer OneTouch 7100 Drivers

Alot of people have gotten it to work from this thread, in various ways though!

And i tried: VueScan Scanner Software for Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion), Linux, iPhone, iPad, iPod
    They list the scanner

I just do not understand why no drivers are being found, nor can the software connect to it?
    Thanks for your help!!!:)
sorry, the URLs dont lok the same

Because the model of your scanner wasn't in you post until JDobbsy requested. I assumed the printer/scanner in your picture with the green check mark was what the question was about. Now that we know the scanner that is in question we can go farther.
I have no idea how others got it to work, except Windows 7 isn't a Apple IPhone, IPad ect. This is information I have found. If Windows 7 doesn't except this scanner I, Layback Bear would suggest not using it but getting one that is designed to work with Windows 7.

Hey layback i am marking this as solved. I was in contact with the aftermarket software developer for universal scanner drivers, (VueScan) and he said my scanner is particularly difficult, so i will be selling it on Craigslist. When funds present themselves i will get a Win 7 compatible one. thanks for the help.
