    All driver installations hang

    Hello,

    First time poster, this seemed like the right place to go for my problem.

    I currently have Windows 7 RC(Build 7100) x64 installed on my Lenovo Y650. The problem im currently having is that almost all of the drivers/system devices I try to install on windows hang during installation. In earlier builds I never had this problem, and it has only recently started happening. In fact, I am running 7100 only because the RTM build refused to install the drivers for my printer(which i needed badly) and I had to revert to 7100.

    So far I have had this problem of hanging driver installs with my ipod, my blackjack II(installing windows mobile center), and updating my synaptic drivers. the install windows just sit there and nothing ever happens. I can eventually end the processes but I experience a slow down in performance that is only fixed by rebooting.
    The strange thing about this whole problem is that I already had this exact build installed before had no problems with it, this has only started after i reinstalled(clean) with the RTM.

    I have already searched google for all my specific problems and found nothing useful. Does anybody have any tips/fixes I can try that I may have overlooked?

    (I have also attatched a screenshot of an example hang.)

    thanks for the help

    First, enter your system specs in your profile. Doing so will make it much easier to answer your questions.

    Second, are you installing Windows 7 drivers, or are these Vista/XP/2000 drivers?

    I updated my system specs.

    And to answer your question, the type of drivers being installed is irrelevant. The windows mobile center drivers are for vista(and have worked before), but i have also attempted to update generic bluetooth drivers thru windows update and had the same problem(hanging installation window).

    No, the types of drivers are not irrelevant. If you have no Windows 7 x64 or Vista x64 drivers available for your laptop (chipset, video, audio, etc), or you haven't attempted to install them, it is highly possible your system is unstable. Relying on Microsoft to install the drivers for your laptop is not always going to work.

    where did you get your 7600, and 7100, how did you burn them, is it a clean install?

    Both builds are untouched images(checked against md5 hash), i have an rc key I am using for 7100 and the 7600 was still unactivated. Both were clean installs.

    @kegobeer

    This problem has been happening since I installed. It doesn't matter which drivers I start with. I also have been using the same set of drivers(from the lenovo support site) since I started using Windows 7, and they have always worked.
