Burning at a slow speed addresses not being able to read the disc, not finding the disc drive. Having the same, or even similar, issue with a USB flash drive is a non sequitir. Disconnect the ODD in that event, anyway.

Who thought the Antman would use that term again?

The forum "sensitive" word algorithm needs to be slightly modified -- this is a very well known manufacturer that unfortunately has the letters s--t in it in the correct sequence !!!.

These are usually the same as PANASONIC devices - the UJ nr is the give away -- just search on panasonic

The Vista one should work (both 32 and 64 bit version available on the site).

I'm suprised you need a driver for this as DVD devices these days (inc DVD RAM) have been "bog standard" plug 'n play" in Windows for donkeys years now.

Btw never EVER use those driver scan programs as they will scan your computer for FREE but then you have to PAY a fee to actually get the product you want --nasty nasty sneakware -- I find that type of stuff actually WORSE than the pay up front even for free software !! approach - but people are so easily suckered when they see something written down -- even after all these years the "Canadian Lottery" scam is STILL up and running.

Personaly as cheap as you can buy a different drive i would just replace it myself, that is if any of the other suggestions don't get results.

So, this turned out to be a problem with the download; I downloaded the Windows 7 ISO file again and everything worked fine. Strange because I didn't get any sort of error during the download, which had seemed to go fine, although in retrospect the old ISO file was actually smaller than the good one (2 vs 3 gb) so something was clearly wrong with it.

Before redownloading, I tried using a bootable USB drive and was getting the same error, despite not needing the DVD drive...I would say that Microsoft has not done a terribly good job of designing error messages that are useful in pointing one to the source of the problem.

I had the same problem today not having my computer recognize dvd drives. The problem was solved quickly by the Microsoft Help and Support website at Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs . Simply follow the directions on that site at Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs. I was using Windows 7 RC but followed the website's advice for Vista and it worked. The site has comparable advice for XP and other Windows versions.

try updating the firmware

for example

Bought win 7 family pack. Trying to do clean install from vista home premium 23bit to windows 7 home premium 64bit. booting from dvd as instructed. have physically disconnected the other dvd drive and hard drive. have updated bios to boot from cd/dvd. the win 7 stops recognizing the dvd drive after pressing the install now button. i get the load driver message...basically it is trying to find a driver for the dvd drive. I have been on phone support with Microsoft for 4 days. Not solved yet. i have an lg dvd rw drive.

Did this fix the problem?

Hey all, i don't know if u have found all the solution, how ever despite all the things said so far i have found a solution to this problem.

I have a gigabyte board and i was having this problem and i managed to resolve the issue by using post 5 for my dvd drive instead of port 6... According to my tech at "memory express" (where i work)... The white ports will always give u the problem.

So yes i hope this helps out all the ppl that are trying to solve this issue by reading this page.

After looking at the other solutions so far... i was only more confused. anyways... my solution works and i hope i was able to help a few ppl.
