    STOP: 0x7B Please Help

    Hello All,

So I turned off my computer the other day after a long weekend. I go to turn it on and I get the dreaded STOP: 0x0000007B error. Windows 7 gets this error and will reboot itself when the windows logo does its animation.

I then rebooted the computer and selected repair your computer. When the next screen appears which i believe is select your input method where it says US keyboard. My mouse and keyboard no longer work. So I then decide to try and boot from my windows 7 DVD. When the DVD starts up I Have no keyboard or Mouse support. My keyboard and mouse or both USB peripherials. I have selected in the BIOS for USB mouse support as well as USB keyboard support.

Alright so now I reboot again and select F8 when windows trys to load. I select "show drivers as they load option". The last driver I can see load is a ClassPnp.sys driver.

I have also tried to disable driver signing, and Starting in Safe mode but that doesnt help at all. Windows 7 is the only operating systems on this computer.

Here is the full Error message

    STOP: 0x0000007B (0xfffff880009A98E8, 0xffffffffc0000034, 0x00000000000000, 0x0000000000000)

If this is in the wrong forum can I mod move it for me. Thanks for the help and suggestions everyone.

Two things ... Did you actually get a BSOD?? If so, upload the .dmp file so it can be analyzed for a cause...
Please type event viewer in the search box .. open the application section and see if there are any critical errors listed... please post them here if they are.. We'll go from there, depending on what you find out..

There is no way to get to the event viewer. Windows doesnt event start.

I changed a setting on my bios from IDE to AHCI/Raid compatible and was able to boot up fine with this. Once in windows I installed a antivirus program as well as checked the disk for errors. Both came up clean. i then installed Ubuntu 9.04 cause i wanted to mess with linux and now I'm back to the original problem. Windows wont boot past the windows logo and everytime i go to repair or use the windows cd I have no keyboard or mouse support.
