USB-driver for microphone teases me!

I have brought a Lenco with USB so I can record my old LPs onto the PC, and after that remove hisses and clicks, and then burn the music onto a CD. But I have troubble with the "Microphone (USB Audio CODEC)". The problem is, that it turns inputlevel up and down trying to keep the same level.

That is NOT a good idea for recording music! I.e. when the singer starts to sing loud it sounds as the music is turned down.
Anybody knows of a way to set a steady recording level?
Or knows about another driver for USB recording LP's for Windows 7?

I have tried X-Fi's recording software, Audacity and Cool Edit Pro, but the same error in all 3 programs, so I guess it is the USB-driver that is made for microphones, that don't do what I want.

Ideas?
