Chipset driver. Is it really necessary?

Thank god ASUS has Windows 7 drivers available for all of their mobo's.

Thanks for all the help you guys.
If only that were true. Asus has relatively few Win7 drivers available. I have had no difficulty locating them elsewhere, however.
For sure. And that Google plugin can shure be a great help with their site that runs in the rural speed zone.

Oops, my bad, I really thought ASUS had released Win 7 drivers for all their mobo's.

    I guess I'm a lucky SOB.

Yeah sucks too cuz i have an ASUS mobo its relatively new, and i can't even install the disk it came with because it either doesn't support my Win7 or my 64bit. Either way says my OS isn't supported and that sucks. The only thing i could even use on the disk was the probe tool which is pretty ugly lol but it works very nicely!

Me too Criminal, I really thought that running the DVD under Win 7 wouldn't give me any problems. Wrong!.

There's a Win 7 compatible version of Probe over at asus.com. Go check it out.

Yes, Everest goes way beyond probe. which is the same piece of cr*p it was 10 yrs ago.

Asus makes technically very good boards, but development of drivers and software at Asus has always been a disgrace, for such high end products.

They are way to slow on updated drivers, and they abandon the product way too soon.

By the time all the bugs are out, a new OS has already been introduced.

But it's the same story for all hardware manufacturers.
    Sell and Abandon.
