ATI Mobility FireGL 9000 Good evening everyone!
I have a Compaq Evo N800w running the Windows 7 RC Build 7100.
My graphics card is the ATI Mobility FireGL 9000.
Right now in the device manager under display adapters it only lists "standard vga graphics adapter".
My question is whether or not it is possible to install a ATI driver for this card on my machine.
I tried using the one for XP but i get the following error:
"try to set up your display with a standard vga driver before running setup"
Any assistance would be much appreciated!
Thanks. | My System Specs |

Hi there, try using the XDDM drivers listed in this thread post. I'm using the same driver in a Thinkpad with a Mobility Radeon 9000 and it works beautifully. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Assembled OS Win7 RTM, XP Pro, Arch Linux, Puppy (Quad boot) CPU Core i7 920 (OCed @ 3.8Ghz) Motherboard ASUS P6T Dlx Memory OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3-1600 Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1GB (OCed @ 935/1300) Sound Card On-board Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 24" PSU Corsair HX620W Case Antec 1200 Cooling Noctua U12P Hard Drives WD Caviar Black 1TB, WD Velociraptor 300GB, Maxtor 250GB |

Had to use the Mobility Radeon 9000 driver, so I'm still not using the full potential of the FireGL series, however this seems to work(probably better than the standard windows VGA driver).
Thanks very much! and repped. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP NW8240 OS Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7600 Build 7600 CPU Intel Pentium M 1.73GHz Memory 2GB Graphics Card ATI Mobility FireGL V5000 128MB Sound Card SoundMAX Integrated Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 Mouse Logitech MX1000 Laser Hard Drives 60GB IDE Internet Speed Dorm... |

Thanks very much! and repped. No worries. Anything's better than that dog standard VGA driver.
What's your Aero WEI score by the way? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Assembled OS Win7 RTM, XP Pro, Arch Linux, Puppy (Quad boot) CPU Core i7 920 (OCed @ 3.8Ghz) Motherboard ASUS P6T Dlx Memory OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3-1600 Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1GB (OCed @ 935/1300) Sound Card On-board Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 24" PSU Corsair HX620W Case Antec 1200 Cooling Noctua U12P Hard Drives WD Caviar Black 1TB, WD Velociraptor 300GB, Maxtor 250GB |

It scores a 1.9.
When I click "View and Print detailed performance and system information" it still does not detect any video memory even though there are 64MB dedicated.
When I run the Aero troubleshooter it says "the current video card may support aero with a driver that is compliant with the windows display driver model(WDDM)"
Also when I output to a 1080p LCD tv (at 1920x1080) the whole screen is shifted to the right a very noticeable amount creating a black bar on the left side of the screen and the right side being cut off. Finally, when I try to set the tv as the main display and click apply it gives me the error "can not save changes". | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP NW8240 OS Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7600 Build 7600 CPU Intel Pentium M 1.73GHz Memory 2GB Graphics Card ATI Mobility FireGL V5000 128MB Sound Card SoundMAX Integrated Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 Mouse Logitech MX1000 Laser Hard Drives 60GB IDE Internet Speed Dorm... |

Right click on the desktop > Screen Res > Advanced Settings > Adapter. Check the dedicated and total available video memory. Quote: When I run the Aero troubleshooter it says "the current video card may support aero with a driver that is compliant with the windows display driver model(WDDM)" There's very little chance to run Aero on that card. If I'm not mistaken, Aero requires DirectX 9 support. Unfortunately, the MR9000 and MRFGL9000 support DX 8.1 only.
