Windows 7: Red X on Drive icons

Red X on Drive icons

I have a red X on D and E Drivers. How do I make this X go away? Thank you

Red X where exactly? A screen shot would help.

Is this in Device manager? Or Computer?

I'm guessing you have Mapped network drives, And there showing as not connected, With a red X,

But if you double click, can you open them?.

The red X appeared on Drivers D and E in Computer. Yes, I can open them.

Those should be hidden drives and not visible in my computer? Also it looks like the icons show them as network drives? Can you think of anything you were doing just before this happened that may have caused this? Were you doing anything in disk management?

you could try rebuilding the icon cache.
