Just got my canon 8600F scanner working with Windows 7. The
driver didn't install automatically, but downloaded the 64-bit
driver from Canon and it installed fine.
The canoscan toolbox application that makes the buttons (scan to pdf, etc.) on the front panel works now too. Download the 64-bit Vista version and install. Make it run in compatibility mode for Vista. You can go into "scanners and cameras" under the control panel and make it react automatically to button presses: right-click; properties; events; select canoscan toolbox.
