Windows 7: Lexmark 9350 all-in-one suddenly cant retrieve scan programs list

Lexmark 9350 all-in-one suddenly cant retrieve scan programs list

I've had a Lexmark 9350 All in One printer/scanner/copier/fax working stably for over a year with Windows 7 x64 using the 64-bit Vista drivers from 2009 available on the Lexmark support site. But two days ago, I lost the ability to scan: the printer displays an error on its screen that it is unable to retrieve the scan programs list. Printing still works.

The printer is attached by ethernet cable to the router and the printer has a static IP address. Pinging that address, the responses return in 1ms with no packet loss.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, to no avail. Made sure that bidirectional communications are enabled on the Printer Properties -> Ports tab.

Disabled antivirus.

Rebooted everything (printer, router, PC).

I see that Lexmark has had this problem in the past with other printers, and issued patches for it. I would be grateful to know what was causing those previous problems, if someone here knows what it was.
