Windows 7 cd/dvd drive not working after custom install

Hi everyone, I did a custom install of windows 7. After this happened, my cd/dvd drive is not working.

Does anyone know what the problem would be?

I tried uninstalling it and having my computer reinstall it. It seems like it wants to install a windows vista drive or something.

    64 bit or 32 bit windows 7?

what is the model of your dvd drive? you may be able to find it in [msinfo32.exe under components, cd-rom] or [device manager under DVD/CD-ROM Drivers]. otherwise you can read it off the drive itself or the box it came in.

have you tried to download the driver from the manufacture website?
