BIOS Update for Acer Aspire 7720 running windows 7

I'm wondering if I should get the BIOS update from Acer for my laptop.
I've been having some audio stutter issues that seem to be fixed by disabling the LAN from 'device manager' (a pretty common problem and solution, apparently).

I just wonder if getting a BIOS update will make my computer more stable, because I don't want to have to keep disabling my LAN just to stop audio stutter and, in some cases, spikes in the CPU usage.
Is it safe to update my BIOS? Would I need to back-up any data before I do it?

Crazyedd, BIOS updates usually list info on what the update fixes. If it states that it can fix your audio issue then you should do it. If not, update your complete specs, using the link under my sig, and post in the sound and audio thread and a member will help you. Also make sure your drivers are up to date.

Yes I wouldn't update your BIOS if there is no need to. Like they say if it's not broke don't fix it :)

Your bios would have nothing to do with that problem. If you`re not careful you could ruin the bios, proceed with caution.

Check what bios version you have now, then go to the website and see what the latest version is and what updates it has. If you don`t need them, I`d leave your bios alone.

To check what bios version you have run the command below

Open up command prompt by clicking on type CMD inside Search programs and files . Press [ENTER]

In command prompt enter the following

    Code:
    systeminfo | find "BIOS Version:"
       Note

The | pipe symbol can be found using SHIFT + \ (just above the [ENTER] key)

Check that you have the latest drivers for your audio and lan before you do anything.
As has been said do not update the BIOS unless it has been stated that the update fixes the problem.
Does this problem happen all the time? Does it only happen when on battery power?

I think the audio stutter is his problem. He stated he disabling his lan seems to fix it. I'm trying to figure that part out. Yes roy69, we were posting at the same time.

Apparently disabling the LAN to fix the audio stutter is a pretty common 'remedy.'
But I wonder if there's another way to fix it.

This only started a few days ago. I had it a few years ago quite badly, but it came back all of a sudden.
I'm wondering if cleaning my fan may help (it runs at 55-60C when using the internet and sometimes reaches 70 when gaming). I've opened it up and cleaned it by hand, but I need to get some compressed air to blow out some dust in areas that I just can't reach (such as where the fan spins on).
I'm doubting it could be a virus, considering I have a paid-for version of Malwarebytes, and it seems to do that job okay.

Should I still post my specs?

    Crazy run the tool below

    Download

Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
Place a check next to attact.txt and click Start . When done, DDS will open two logs
    DDS.txt
