Drivers for P4M900, VT8237A  

Hello,

This is about my sister's computer which used to be mine.
I recently installed Win7x64, like 5 days ago.
I've been around the web and visited literally like 50 pages or websites and I still can't find the chipset drivers for Windows 7 x64 for this PC.

It's a Gigabyte P4M900 with a VIA VT8237A chipset.

In the Gigabyte website the latest drivers are for Vista and don't work, not even in compatibility mode.
Via website the same. I would like the chipset driver since I think it could help me solve some issues.


Does anybody know of a driver website I could check and I missed?

Hi! Thanks a lot for replying.

Well I had read that, so that's why I researched a little bit more outside VIA and Gigabyte.
It turns out that there was a newer graphic driver which I got from a drivers site, and it actually worked out fine. Now I can use enhancements without slowing down everything.

It just so happens that there are some things that don't work quite well. From time to time this machine might freeze, and with Windows XP it used to reboot out of the blue. The rebooting thing was completely solved after I did a BIOS update which I got from the Gigabyte site.

I have already tested memory with Memtest86+, it ran for 16 hours, 14 passes and no errors found. I also checked the only hard drive with the Seagate tool.

The only thing I can think of is bad drivers.
I tried to install the RAID driver for Vista from the Gigabyte site but didn't go through.


There are no devices in conflict showing in the device manager. But there is something wrong here and I just don't know what.
Last night my sister turned on the computer, opened Chrome to go to YouTube and it just crashed or froze.
I fresh installed Windows 5 days ago and the only software installed besides the one included in the OS is Chrome, MS Office and Java. Absolutely nothing else.


Any suggestions?

I did not replace the cooler. However I did clean all the fans thoroughly since they were really dirty.

I will leave it processing some videos of mine I believe. 'Cause if I leave to my sis there's not gonna be any intensive use, I mean she just uses the computer to check e-mails, browse a few sites, download pictures of her son and maybe occasionally open a Word/Excel document, that's all.

So this is what happened.

I installed CPUID and left it running with Prime95.
I was on the computer for the first hour, I started at 8:00. This is the first screenshot: http://imageshack.us/a/img37/1064/1testt.jpg
(I know it says it started at 8:15, it was because I had closed it and reopen)

At about 9:10 I left and came back at 10, the screen was off since it's set up to go off after 15 minutes (it is NOT set up to sleep). Well it was frozen. Nothing came up on screen and I could tell it didn't respond because the num lock light in the keyboard didn't change as I pressed it.


So here I am again, I don't know what it causes it to freeze.
Here are two high resolution pictures I took last week before cleaning it. By any chance do you see something unusual besides the dust? Which is not there anymore by the way.

I don't have another one, but I will see how to get one.
I don't feel much comfortable changing this, unless I learn how to do it properly. So I'm gonna try to learn first and see if I can get it changed.

Well I decided to check on this and it sincerely called my attention.

Besides these lines saying "OK" the sys fan speed is zero. That can't be true, since there are only two fans and you can see both of them working when turned on. I'm guessing there's a sensor disconnected?

I remember that when this PC was brand new it had to go back because the CD drive didn't work and had to be replaced, and it came back with one of the front lights not working, i.e. cable disconnected. Maybe it's the same here.


Anyway, as I said I'll check if they're disconnected, the power supply and also the thermal compound.
