Xerox 24M does not support Windows 7, how do I connect to it?
Hello,
My office recently purchased 10 desktop PC's to replace our old outdated ones. They gave me the task of setting everything up rather than hiring an IT company to get it done since I know a "thing or two" about computers. :/
We have an older model Xerox WorkCentre 24M as our shared network printer. However, Xerox does not support Windows 7 on this particular printer.
The most recent "IT" guy we had (Art Dept Manager who was handy with a computer) somehow managed to setup my desktop (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit) to this printer by what I can tell is a custom port and tricked the old vista driver into working. I cannot seem to replicate what he did and after talking with him he cannot remember either.
Our Server right now is a Mac running OSX and Virtual Server Windows Server 2003.
I tried setting up a print server on the mac and sharing it with the network, it only works partially. It prints only 8.5x11 and will not print in any other size if selected on the Windows 7 end. We print 11x17 almost every day.
Have any of you had this issue? How did you fix it? We can't afford to purchase a new printer at this moment. I would prefer to connect directly to it rather than a print server but anything right now would help greatly.
Thanks!
