Windows 7: tascam us-122

i think i found a solution to the shutdown problem. after spending alot of time with trial and error, i ended up simply upluging the usb from the back of the tascam before i shut down the computer and the problem was solved. i know this is not absolutely ideal and was not really the solution i was looking for, but for me it beats having to manually shut down my pc and then get the save mode screen the next day. hope this helps and maybe saves a little money for those like myself who cant afford a new audio interface right now lol.

Tascam Support is Worthless!

I had the same problem with this card for years now. And yes the only solution is to plug off the USB device before shutting down. But the real problem is that the PC hangs the same way when going into hibernate, and because I'm not sitting 24/7 on my PC I like it to be set to automatically hibernate after a half an hour. And I can't really plug off and on the USB everytime I stand up from my chair and get back on again.

There has to be a more convenient way to do this, please anyone?

I tried US-122MKII driver and it doesn't work for us-122. But I'm sick of that blue screen issues. Is there gonna be an updated driver for 64 bit win 7?

my research: (on Windows 7 related to tascam US 122)
my system is windows 7 professional 64 bits, devcon is installed and working properly. the only issue i keep having with tascam US-122 after installing the windows vista drivers is that the computer freeze when i try to reboot or turn off with the US-122 device plugged to the computer.

I tried devcon disabling on cmd window...

1.) ...the "US-122", the cmd window freezes until i unplug the US-122, then the cmd window says "1 device(s) disabled.", then when i plug again the US-122 i need to devcon enable de US-122 in order to make the US-122 work again.

2.) ...the "USB ROOT HUB", cmd window says "The 1 device(s) are ready to be disabled. To disable the devices, restart the devices or reboot the system .", so i have then to unplug the US-122 from the computer, then i devcon enable again the USB ROOT HUB and everything works fine.

3.)...the "Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 1C26", cmd window freezes until i unplug the US-122 (the same as in the "1.) step", so ones i unplugged the US-122 from the computer the cmd window says "1 device(s) disabled."

so seems that US-122 really needs to be unplugged manually from the computer when the computer needs to be restarted or turned off.
I think there must be a way to kill the communication between the tascam US-122 and the computer without unplugging the USB manually...please some 1 suggest something else...

Tascam US-122 (the origional) will work in Windows 7 x64

Hello anyone that reads this bit of information. I was in search of the drivers for the "TASCAM US-122 USB Audio/MIDI Interface" and as many of you have by now figured out, Tascam does not offer a driver solution for this problem. In fact they specifically tell us all to go buy new equipment. Granted it is probably needed but to say I have to throw away my older stuff that works just fine for what I needed. . . Not going to be my solution.

Here is what you do and it is all thanks to the wonderful Windows Seven operating system. Some people hate it, but I for one (especially in times like these) am so thankful for a operating system that predicted this type of problem.

Go to the Tascam website to download the US-122 driver (not the US-122l . . . or the US-122 MKII . . . The (grey and blue) US-122 - - Product: US-122 | TASCAM

Now download the Windows driver version 3.40 (works for XP and Vista)

now unpack the driver file and go to that folders location. Inside you will find your driver setup file but if you click it it will tell you that it can not instal in this operating system or something and it makes you mad.

Well right click on the file and select troubleshoot compatibility and its going to try to figure it out itself. . . It will get it wrong the first time and it won't work ( only to break your heart a little more.

Now its going to ask you if it worked before and under what operating system ( it gives you a list)

Select WINDOWS VISTA

I did not choose any other version with service packs or anything just Windows Vista.) I hit the Start program button one more time and BAM!!!!!!

I'm up and running and I hope this helps you all get you old stuff back up and running. I bought some newer model connect cable and it was junk. No software would let it work and it is on its way back to the factory.

You just killed his enthusiasm dude, lol! Yup there's got to be an easier way to somehow unplug it using the software.

I'm pretty pissed at Tascam though that they didn't even try to figure out a way to do that. They simply ended support. Great. How convenient. For them! I won't ever buy any tascam unit that's for sure!

For clarity, here are the exact steps I followed:

- Download the latest Vista drivers from Products | TASCAM
- Extract the .exe file from the package;
- Right click on the extracted exe file, select properties;
- Go to the compatibility tab, select "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and in the dropdown box underneath select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" (any Vista selection will probably work but this is the one that did it for me);
- Choose OK to save the settings
- Run the installer by double clicking on it and install as normal

Hope this helps!
