    Hi guys!

I'm new here, and looking to upgrade to W7 from Vista, also running an 8400M GT.

    Here is my question. I'v
e installed the ForceWare 186.91 drivers, but the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor still says the drivers are inadequate.

    Is this really the case?

    Ta

So the Upgrade Advisor is wrong? I don't want to be stuck in VGA mode after I install!

Just wanted to say a million thanks to Chev65. I downloaded and installed the 64 bit drivers he linked in his post and they work perfectly.

    Thanks again

Has anyone found a driver that they have confirmed works for the Sony Laptop with the GEForce 8400M GT and Windows 7? If so can they post the link here?

Easy enough, ForceWare 186.91 WHQL Win 7 | Vista (32-bit) download from Guru3D.com

    ForceWare 186.91 WHQL Win 7 | Vista (64-bit) download from Guru3D.com
Back to this issue; I installed the driver but still when I run the MS Windows 7 compatibility check it fails on the same Display driver. Is there something else I need do?

As I said in my post, I installed the driver (in W7) that Chev65 linked and it runs perfectly.

If you've installed it in W7 and your laptop is performing, why do you still need the Upgrade Advisor?

If you've installed the new driver in Vista and the Upgrade Advisor is telling you it's not compatible, That's probably because it's a non-standard driver and the Advisor doesn't recognise it.

Install W7 and go for it. It works!

Resuming the discussion on the board and see Geforce 8400M GT and Sony Vaio.
The tip of the Chevy 65 helped a lot (thank you), because at least I can use my video card, but without much success, because I can not adjust the resolution to my external monitor 1920x1080.
Anyway I notice that Sony has not solved this problem a few years ago and it seems they are not interested in solving. I wrote to Sony support and feedback I got was that they have no timeframe to launch a driver compatible with Windows 7.
After much research and try, i realized that the years passed and nothing was resolved.
If anyone knows of any news please help us
