    Windows7 Drivers update?

Generally, how do I know when drivers need to be updated? Today, I got this prompt to download a scan function which subsequently informed me I needed to update a couple of drivers. Before doing any upgrade, however, a payment was needed.

Won't my daily Windows Update let me know about necessary driver updates?

Most likely all fake. Did you download what you call "scan function"? Did you install it? Please post screenshot. Most likely.... it's a virus!

Sorry, can't remember the name. I did install the program and went as far as I did because it had Microsoft "wording" on each page. Once I saw the dollar sign, I UN-installed it. A quick scan showed no ill effects to this point.

Without further information, I can't help you. Scan your system for viruses please

Yes, the scan is complete with no ill reports. I'll assume removing that program without actually "running" it worked for me this time. Thanks for your feedback.

Find out what chipset, graphics and audio codec your motherboard uses. Then go directly to the manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers from there. Alternatively, the motherboard manufacturer will have suitable drivers, although they may not be the latest.

Ah, this pop-up appeared again, from Slimware Utilities. It placed an installation wizard box adjacent to my other documents which I just deleted.

Why did popup appear? Was it an internet browser popup?

I noticed the box near my lower taskbar, urging me to scan and then update my out-of-date drivers. Not sure where it originated.
