First off a BIOS update is not a driver update and should only be done if you are having problems. Flashing your BIOS incorrectly can render your PC non functional, as in expensive paper weight.
One option is once you install Windows have a look at what's not working and go from there. Just look in device Manager for items with a yellow !
Me personally I like to have the latest driver installed that's stable. For me its chip-set, video, audio, network/WIFI, etc.

It doesn't matter what order you download them in, its what order you install them in.
The foundation of your system is the motherboard chip-set, install those drivers first.
I install video drivers second just to make life easier and get the proper resolution on my monitor.
My personal preference is audio next and then my network drivers so I have internet access.
After that it doesn't really matter, I just keep going until everything is working correctly.

Hi cheesum, As Alphanumeric as already stated , Chipset, video, sound 1st then the rest in any order you care,I think Sony's are the only laptop/pc's that require a certain method of installing drivers in the correct order

Windows 7 does a good job of installing most if not all of the required basic drivers. On a desktop PC you can likely leave it at that and have no problems. On a laptop though, you may lose some functionality. Your special function keys for adjusting the volume or screen brightness for example, may not work without installing the custom drivers offered by the manufacturer. I personally update all the drivers with those supplied by the manufacturer on all of my PC's.

Hi all. Thanks alot for the pointers. Just finished migrating from Win8 to Win7. However, how can i be sure all the hardware is working properly? I see in the device managers that there is no exclamation (!) marks whatsoever. But just want to be 100% sure all the hardware is working properly.

Another question. Say if a hardware has got no drivers. Hence, will the hardware still be shown in the device manager? Say if my wireless adapter (hardware) has got no drivers installed, will the device manager still show up my wireless adapter?

It's been my experience that devices with no drivers installed still show up, often as an "unknown" device. Right now you won't know if something isn't working fully until you use it. You'll just have to play around with things like volume up down, mute, screen brightness, wireless on off etc.
