USB drivers for A10-4600M-based HP laptop?

guys I have a new to me AMD A10-based hp m6 and have been trying to clean-install windows 7 [which is what it has the coa for ].

without windows 7, all the usb ports work fine. once 7 loads up, they're all dead or unrecognized in terms of dealing with whatever I try to plug in. go to Device Manager and there are issues... a number of USB hubs and devices are shown as installed and "working correctly" but a few are not.
HP puts no drivers for such core devices on its support pages [not for this or the kissing-cousin dv6/7 models]. so I'm stuck ... where does such come from?

Hi there ... I would try downloading the chipset Driver from the HP website ... Also does your computer have a card reader ... You might need to Install the Driver for that ... What about USB 3 ports ?

no such animal for Trinity-based units.
it does have a card reader.

and to correct what I said previously: not all the USB ports are dead: one [only] is alive, the one adjacent to the ac/power connector. all others toast.

ok, now its making more sense. thanks for poking me enough to do what I usually do: I opened the misfit usb device details and copied the location etc from device mgr, poked in google and got exactly one hit - a tiny thread on an hp support forum where a nice guy put a link to an amd page that claimed to have the Chipset Wad for this model [why on earth did hp not carry that?]. I had already run a amd scan/discovery tool which pointed me to a certain catalyst hairball, installed that and got no errors. but when I hit the "chipset" link, it sent down another Catalyst gigantic hairball, and this time I chose "Custom" so I could see what it was carrying - There were the USB 3.0 drivers, sata driver, etc.
FIXED ... all except the card reader [a PCI device].
tried twice to instal the realtek card reader stuff that was on the HP site for this specific model. the installer just fails with no warning or anything, but I'll reboot now that more devices are working and try it again.

and for some reason, when I point Device Manager to the folder that has the realtek win7 x64 drivers etc, it bails. "no compatible drivers"

Glad you have most things sorted ... Surprised about the Card Reader though thought that would be the easiest thing to fix ... Maybe a corrupt download cannot think of much else
