Windows 7: Shogun Bros Mouse, Unknown Driver, Stops Working

Shogun Bros Mouse, Unknown Driver, Stops Working

I got the new Shogun Bros Ballista MK-1 gaming mouse today and I went to plug it in to my machine and it will not work. In the manual, it says that this mouse will work with a basic driver and does not require the software to make it work. Here are the details of what I tried:
(Custom Built rig with Windows 7 x64)

- Uninstalled old mouse software before plugging in the MK-1
- Unplugged old mouse before plugging in the MK-1
- Tried different USB port, even tried a USB 3.0 port....nothing works.
- Restarted (Many Times)
- Device Manager showing the exact model of mouse, but listed in Unknown/Other Devices and a description saying no driver installed.
- Plugged mouse into another Windows 7 x32 laptop, works perfectly.
- Plugged mouse into MacBookPro, works flawlessly.
- Tried to install generic mouse driver for it, wouldn't accept it.
- Removed the USB Root Hub in Device Manager and that made all of my USB devices quit working (obviously, but then they wouldn't come back at all no matter what...had to do next step)
- Rolled system back to earlier time before I installed the software, and IT WORKED!!! But only until Windows detected the new mouse and attempted to install a new driver...then it just stopped working.
- Ran DriverEasy and updated every driver for my system, including Chipset, USB Root Hub, etc.
- Ran CCleaner and removed irrelevant Registry settings.
- Rebooted, and it WORKED!! ..... Until Windows saw the new device and once again tried to install a driver. It prompted me to reboot, and upon reboot, the mouse stopped working again.

- Booted this computer into Ubuntu and it works just fine (so I know for a fact it is something with Windows because Ubuntu is using the same hardware)

What in the heck could be causing this?? I am really getting frustrated on this, and no matter what I try I cannot get this to work. I have Googled this to absolutely no avail (everything on Google is a review about how AWESOME this COOL mouse is....nothing about people having problems with it.)

I am afraid that I might have to reinstall Windows 7 completely, is that the case? Please help me.

So you say this is a custom build, I'm assuming your mobo came with a CD that includes the drivers necessary. Install the mouse drivers from the motherboard CD.

I've had this rig for going on two years with absolutely no problems until I got this new mouse. How could drivers for a MoBo two years old help me in any way? (Im genuinely wondering...this mouse wasn't even invented when this MoBo CD came out)

Besides, this mouse works just fine on the exact same system when I dual boot into Ubuntu.
This is a Windows problem, not a hardware mobo problem if I were a bettin' man......

Any other advice?

I was assuming this was a new build..

What software did you uninstall from your old mouse? Can you tell me which driver you downloaded to try and fix it and what driver are you currently using?

The old mouse i had was a Microsoft Sidewinder. I uninstalled the entire MS Sidewinder suite from the Control Panel.

After I uninstalled the drivers, I rebooted and plugged in the new Shogun bros mouse. It worked for maybe a minute, until Windows decided it wanted to find a driver for it. Once it said that it couldn't find a driver, it stopped working. Very weird.

There is no custom drivers for this mouse. It even says it in the manual that this mouse works with the default Windows drivers. But when I plug it in, Device Manager detects it exactly what model it is: "Shogun Bros. Ballista MK-I" and then says it can't find a driver.

The CD that comes with it is just configuration software once the mouse is plugged in, no drivers on the disk....anywhere (I've checked)

Currently, the mouse is unplugged and my old mouse is plugged in with the default HID-Compliant Mouse drivers installed.

I dont see this as a driver issue since the other mouse works. Its probably not the mouse since it works on another PC.

Unplug the other USB mouse, plug in the new one and restart the PC.

Please take a look at my steps performed in the original post. I have tried this multiple times and it never works.
It IS a Driver issue because I can watch it happen in front of me while looking at the device manager!
I can SEE it go from being listed as an HID-Compliant Mouse (working), to a Shogun Bros. Ballista MK-1 in the Unknown Devices section (Stops Working)..............

Here are some images of my Device Manager and the problems I am having.

Not sure if this will help any, but its worth a shot.

Also, I have been trying a few things since I posted. I have tried installing the generic HID-Compliant Mouse driver for this mouse, and it installs, but Windows tells me that this device cannot start.

I am beginning to wonder if my entire Windows installation is damaged and that I would need to reinstall? I really really dont want to do that if I can help it.

Im not convinced its a driver issue because of the simple fact that it works for a second and then stops. Windows might be the problem because it assumes it needs to install a new driver.

What edition of Windows do you have? (IE, Ultimate, Pro, Home etc)?

I agree here. I know its something within Windows, its not the hardware. But that is what a Driver is for; a driver tells the Operating System how to communicate with the hardware, so when Windows detects it, it thinks it needs to get a different driver than the default one.

There has to be a logical explanation for this.
I am still working on figuring this out...not just sitting here waiting for someone to figure it out. If I find it, I will let you all know.
