OEM drivers vs Generic?

I actually can't seem to find this out on google, but would OEM drivers do better then Generic drivers? From my understanding generic is well generic for general use but OEM is specific to that laptop series right?

So which is better generally?

OEM, always get the drivers from the source when possible.

In my case, Sony doesn't have 64 bit drivers for a majority of the software. Which is stupid.

Oh wait forgot the other half my question, I know OEM drivers are made around that hardware, but are the drivers for it themself actually good? Like some intel drivers add more support for OpenGL, and the windows 7 drivers add support for directx 11. Would OEM drivers even do that?

It will provide drivers for the operating system originally shipped with the computer, for example say Computer A was released with Home Premium x86 and x64, then it would have x86 and x64 drivers. You can still download the drivers from the hardware vendor.

The Windows drivers are more placeholder drivers, especially the VGA driver.

Windows 7 added Direct-X 11, Direct-X is a Microsoft product, DX11 does you no good though if the video component does not support it AND the software itself has to actually use it. DX9 is pretty much the standard one still, introduced with XP. [DX10 from Vista]

1. The touchpad I know isn't a driver issue. Just the left click doesn't really work, and the right works a bit better. I mean who knows, I never really tried much to fix it, this laptop was heavily used by my Mom before I got it.

2. Bluerobot, Windows 7 and XP weren't originally shipped with this series of vaio's. They were added due to popular request according to them, Just for whatever reason the windows 7 drivers they barely have any, despite recommending people switch to it. But placehold drivers is a good way of explaining it. So that answered a question.

3. lol I know what directx is. But I thought having higher versions of directx could make previous directx versions run better, or fix any issues. But I assume going from 9 to 10 is not the same as 9a to 9c.
