I formatted the hard drive on an HP laptop, and installed Windows from a Microsoft installation disk rather than the factory recovery. On the old installation in Device Manager, under IDE ATA controller it said ATA channel 0 & 1. On the new installation it says IDE channel/IDE channel. I am wondering if there is any loss of speed or functionality because of this.
The HP site does not have a driver
for either the chipset or ATA controller. And Windows Update has not presented any driver updates for this either.
Any thoughts on this?
