Where would I find this driver in device mgr

What would my back panel e-sata controller be listed as in device manager?

It's not controlled by the PCH on my P55 board. It's controlled by a J-Micron chip that also controls two of my other SATA ports on my motherboard. (I think) I may have 3 SATA controllers))

I am trying to find out which driver I have now so I can update it. Which one of these would it be? (if any)

Nate I might be mistaken but I believe they already have working drivers. Do you want to upgrade because they aren't working.

I ran into a guy on the net with my same setup. His e-sata drive would not work. He even has a similar drive as mine. I am without my e-sata drive for another week so I can't test it. I would just like to know which one it is so if I have the same problem I will know.

He claims he went to J-Micron and installed their latest drivers (instead of MS or Intel's) and now his e-sata drive works fine. He told me to do the same and gave me the link. I just don't know which one it is......

These are the drivers I need he says (I have the link)

// [Package Description]
// RX.XX.XX - Driver would get eSATA setting from BIOS/Option Rom.
// RX.XX.XX_eSATA - Driver would report all Device connected as Removable Device with WriteCache Enabled.
// RX.XX.XX_eSATA_WriteCacheDisabled - Driver would report all Device connected as Removable Device with WriteCache Disabled.
// RX.XX.XX_No_eSATA - Driver would report all Device connected as Fix Device.

I clearly need to do some research. I just thought someone may knwo just by looking. I have to go for a few hours but if anyone knows which one is the JMB362 controller, let me know.

Nate

If you need to find out you can go into device manager. Go to the device, right click> properties>details>pull down the bar that says device description till you see hardware ID's. cut the id and paste into google. It will find you the vendor

see pic

So, you would paste that "value" into google. I will give that a try. I know the vendor it's JMicron. Thanks for the help

I will test my e-sata drive when I get it back and see if I have the same problem as this guy had. If I do, I will be back for some help. haha

It ain't the Intel, so it must be the other. My JMicron also shows as standard PCI controller. It does not matter which of the two non-Intel controllers you choose. They are the same one and the driver will apply to the set.

Okay, so that's the one. Now I remember he said the MS driver was not working. That makes sense. Thanks again Antman.
