    Need 64 bit wifi drivers

Dell Inspiron 1525 with a BCM 4312 802.11b/g lp-phy wi-fi card. I can't locate a 64 bit Vista driver. It's the last piece of hardware I need a driver for and I well have a nice clean 64 bit install. No luck in finding W7 64 bit either.

For anyone thinking of using 64 bit OS on a Dell Inspiron laptop check Intel's driver page, chip set and gpu in 64 bit. The Dell drivers work for the LAN card and card reader. Everything else seems to like the Vista drivers from the OS install.

    This may be of assistance,

    Hardware Identification

I used a Lenovo driver that matched up with the same Hardware ID from a Dell I did a clean install on for my neighbor a while back.

Not saying it'll work for you, but it did in my case.

    Hi madcratebuilder,

Please let us know if this wireless card was shipped with the system or you have replaced it later. As, I have checked the site for the driver and unable to find the driver for this card.

You can also check unofficial list of drivers available for our systems:

    http://dell.to/13xAjq9

And if you are unable to locate the compatible driver then kindly right click the device in device manager. Then click on properties and then details. Select hardware id and let us know the complete information which should be listed at "PCI_XXXX & VEN_XXXX".

We would try to locate the compatible driver for your system if one is available. Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

    Hi Sandeep

I did find the correct driver. I was using the wrong search term, I used the BCM1413. I found the 64 bit driver searching "Dell wireless 1395 wlan". The Dell file id is R251496. It has both 32 and 64 bit drivers. It did choke on auto install but a manual install did the trick, immediately found the network, asked for wpa pass word and connected.

Changing this Inspiron laptop to 64 bit Vista did require some searching but it can be done. Win 7x64 should be even easier, as I found a lot of W7 drivers while searching.

I still have the original Dell Vista home basic install on the original hhd. The new Vista Ultimate 64 install is on a new hybrid hhd. I use a second hhd caddy and can swap drives in seconds.

It's interesting seeing the difference, it helped to have the original install to get information from device manager.

    Hi there
If you can get the VENDOR ID then this (FREE ) database might be able to help you identify what you are looking for

    PCI Vendor and Device Lists

Don't though use things like DRIVERMAX - these are horrible pieces of SNEAKERWARE --they offer to help find drivers etc -- and then you have to PAY for access to parts of the site - and these hardware drivers are ALL in public domain anyway so you should NEVER have to pay for access to that type of information.

    Cheers
